The Story Behind the Name: The Honey Collab
From Rural Europe to the UK
Eniko Balla, our founder, spent her formative years in rural Hungary, Transylvania, and Western Romania. During childhood summers, she engaged in agricultural pursuits including harvesting grapes, preparing wine, and growing plentiful fruits and vegetables. These early experiences shaped her deep connection to the land and traditional beekeeping practices that have been passed down through generations.
A Three-Decade Partnership
Our approach centers on ethical, sustainable honey production with deep community roots. What makes The Honey Collab special is our relationship with our beekeepers. We maintain a three-decade partnership with our first independent beekeeper, whose family has supplied honey to Eniko's relatives since the 1980s. This partnership extends to the beekeeper's three children, creating what we describe as a close and trusted relationship built on respect and shared values.
This is not a transactional business relationship—it is a family bond that spans generations. When you buy The Honey Collab honey, you are not just purchasing a product; you are supporting a legacy of ethical beekeeping that has been carefully maintained for over 30 years.
Bringing Europe's Finest to the UK
After spending nine years living along England's Sussex coast, Eniko realized the opportunity to share what she knew best. The mission became clear: connect UK consumers with European heritage while promoting raw acacia honey and supporting small beekeeping businesses.
Today, The Honey Collab continues this mission by bringing high-quality Hungarian honey to the UK. We are building a new chapter of the story Eniko started, one where authentic, sustainable honey from small family beekeepers reaches those who appreciate quality and care about where their food comes from.
